A Good FOIA Request Letter (page 2)
I am aware that while the law allows your agency to withhold specified categories of exempted information, you are required by law to release any segregable portions that are left after the exempted material has been deleted from the data I am seeking.3 I am willing to pay fees for this request up to a maximum of $25. If you estimate that the fees will exceed this limit, please inform me first.4 Please provide expedited review of this request which concerns a matter of urgency. As a veterinarian, I am primarily engaged in disseminating information. The public has an urgent need for information about this because delayed disclosure could threaten physical safety because of a potentially deadly bovine virus. I certify that my statements concerning the need for expedited review are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. If possible, I would prefer to see the original documents in person rather than having copies made, in order to avoid copying fees. Because subsequent requesters may also want copies of these documents, I do not consider it fair that as the first requester, I should bear the full cost of the initial search for this material. Sincerely, Robert Roe, DVM
